A message to our bowlers

Club Windang has a COVID-Safe Plan for Lawn Bowls . A plan is nothing if we don’t follow it!

For the safety of our bowling members and visitors we must adhere to this plan. The plan will be updated shortly to include the latest directive from NSW Health.

Thank you to our many volunteers who have helped us stick to our plan. We appreciate everything you do and you are a asset to your club. We cannot fulfil the requirements of our plan without your assistance.

Our Club’s opening time still remains at 11:00am. All Social Bowlers are reminded that any COVID Safe Regulations that are in force during opening hours still apply when we check in at 9:30am.

Volunteer COVID Marshalls will be on hand to ensure the safety of everyone during this time and we ask all bowlers to follow the volunteers directions and co-operate when required.

As this pandemic unfolds, Our Management and Board must navigate its way through the “next normal”. I know they’ll make the right decisions as hard as they may seem, to create a club and a business that is resilient enough to make it through the next phase of this pandemic and well into the future!

Our Management and Board are facing significant challenges which they need to respond to rapidly. There’s no doubt that we’re living in unprecedented times and in a time of crisis, we all have to step up.

We all have to do our part to help our club get through this current crisis.

  • Our Board has made the decision to reduce Social Bowls and Club Championship Prize Money. The Schedule for the Championship Prize Money appears below. This decision was not made lightly and was made in the best interest of all of our members.
  • Our Match Committee decided to make social bowls prizes “Out of the Hat”. The reason for this was we’ve had an unprecedented number of single entries, with numerous new bowlers and visitors. We do our best to get everyone a game. Having a social game based on highest winning margins at this stage is very demoralising for our newer bowlers when they lead the winners in by 40-50 shots and this happened recently when we switched to hi margins. Initially we started with all single names and teams appeared to be well balanced. We’ve let you play with your mates in your own nominated teams, but the selfish ones want hi margins now and also want the prize money increased. It’s obvious isn’t it!

It’s gets very frustrating when a minority of bowlers constantly whinge about the  formats and prize money for social bowls but still continue to bowl!

  • As far as our Match Committee are concerned all prizes will remain “Out of the Hat” until further notice.
  • A better option would be to go back to single names with balanced teams. That way we can have the experienced bowlers trying to mentor, help and encourage our newer bowlers instead of trying to thrash them…..It’s social bowls!
  • When our Club is running as normal, with no restrictions and we’ve come out of the other side of this pandemic…… which I’m sure we will, only then will a decision will be made regarding any bowls payments, formats etc. (Thats what ” until further notice” means!)
  • Anyone that enters our events are aware of the conditions of entry prior to entering, regardless of whether it’s an online entry or a written one.

If you do not agree, don’t enter, it’s that simple!

Enough is Enough!

  • We’re doing our very best to keep you safe and still be able to play the game we love. I know the majority of you appreciate that fact, but for some,  it’s still not enough is it?
  • Anyone whining about social bowls prize money and discrediting our Board for their decisions during this crisis will receive an immediate suspension from social bowls events as determined by the Match Committee.
  • The other alternative is simple……… No bowls for anyone.
