Bowls Update 28th July 2021
Unfortunately the current stay at home orders will remain in place for another four weeks (until Saturday, 28 August at 12.01am) across Greater Sydney including the Central Coast, Blue Mountains, Wollongong and Shellharbour.
Bowling Clubs, as licensed premises, have not been granted an exemption within these current Public Health Orders to be open and to allow members or public use of greens within the licensed premises. Bowls NSW Limited strongly recommends that all formats of the sport cease for the period of the lockdown. This includes social, competition (Club, Zone/District/Region & State), barefoot, practice and/or roll ups.
Please keep up to date with any Bowls NSW circulars.
NSW Government Latest Media Release
On the good side, I’ve sent some info to Mike Driscoll and Windang Bowling Club will have a write up in the Illawarra Mercury tomorrow. This should include our Club Championships so far. If you have the opportunity, get yourself a copy tomorrow.
I had the privilege of attending the July Board meeting, online yesterday. The biggest concern was the structure of the membership fees for 2021-2022. The Unification of Bowls NSW and WBNSW has certainly caused a great deal of concern (and confusion) for our members regarding memberships fees and events eligibility. Yes it is confusing and we’re doing our best to do what’s right for all of our members.
If you do have any concerns or questions, at State level, they can can be submitted to unification@bowlsnsw.com.au
You can also direct your Club concerns to me via email at bowls@windangbowlsclub.com.au
I’ll pass them on to the President and/or the Board and we should be able to come up with a solution.
Our Bowls Website has had a bit of a makeover as well. Please familiarise yourself with the changes. If there’s anything you would like to see… or changed, please let me know.
In the meantime, I’ll continue to make the hard decisions while in lockdown.
