Bowls Update – Tuesday 24th December 2024

In this update we bring you details regarding our current Club Championships and details of what’s to come in 2025.

2024-2025 Men’s Major Singles Decided.

Our 2024-2025 Men’s Major Singles Champion has now been decided. This year saw Gregg Stevens and Dave Tyrrell in the finals again. The Men’s Singles started with 48 entries, requiring 6 rounds to complete. Dave’s road to the final started with a bye, then included the likes of Rob Jordan, Rick Malley, Garry Burke and Wolfy Thiele. Stevo’s path was 6 rounds long with wins over Don Lowe, Nick Goodger, Daniel Ellem, Chris Bradley and Daniel Doyle.

The Marker for the Final was past Club Champion Mick Dihm. The Final was also played in near perfect conditions. As expected, the game started off fairly even with the scores at 6-5 to Stevo on 7 ends. Stevo held on to the lead, 15-13 at the 17th end. Stevo then consolidated the next few ends with several doubles to take out the final 25-18. Congratulations to everyone for taking part in the Championship and of course to our 2024-2025 Men’s Singles Champion – Gregg Stevens.

The Men’s Major Pairs Final is yet to be completed and should be scheduled sometime in January 2025 after the South Pacific Carnival and Holiday Season.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

On behalf of our Bowls Committees, I’d like to wish everyone a very Merry and safe Christmas. Thank you to everyone who helped out during the year and got us on the greens and enjoying the game we love. Sometimes, our Bowls Committee members go above and beyond to ensure everyone has a pleasurable experience at Windang, this includes our barefoot bowls hosts.
Thank you so much for what you do for us!

As far as bowls go, things will definitely change over the next few seasons, I have no doubt about that. As a collective of bowlers its in our best interest to adapt to the changes sooner rather than later. This will ensure our that our game, our competitions, our membership, and our club, continue to thrive well into the future!

Cheers Dave
