Club Championships 2022-2023

During the 2022-2023 Season, Club Championships under the control of Windang Bowls Club will be classed as Open Gender.

This means that financial members of Windang Women’s Bowling Club may participate if eligible. Eligibility requirements are listed in our COP for Club Events.

These Events are the Minor Singles/Pairs/Triples/Fours, Senior Singles & Pairs.

The Major Singles and Major Pairs Events are also subject to eligibility as both events have a pathway to State Level via the Champion of Club Champions. The C of C events are single gender. Please ensure you’re aware of the guidelines prior to entering into an event.

Windang Women’s Bowling Club will also be running some Open Gender Events such as Consistency Singles and Club Selected Events.

If you do have any queries regarding your eligibility or you’re unsure of the Open Gender and Single Gender events, contact the Bowls Coordinator.

RESCHEDULING YOUR MATCH.

  1. Players may choose to play their matches before the scheduled play date or time. This is permitted, and is done by Mutual Agreement between all players involved in the match and is always subject to approval by the Match Committee.
  2. Usually the skips contact the players of the intended change. It is not the Bowls Coordinators’ responsibility. See the Bowls Coordinator for player contact details if required.
  3. Players are encouraged to complete their matches as soon as possible before the scheduled play date. Most days are available and lights are permitted.
  4. Mondays are to be avoided as the greens are normally closed for maintenance.
  5. Tuesdays and Thursdays are subject to approval by the Women’s Club Match Committee.
  6. Once the the players have come to an agreement, the relevant Match Committee must be notified.
  7. The Match Committee must approve all rescheduled matches.
  8. The rescheduled match is noted on the “Rescheduled Club Championship Matches” sheet located next to the noticeboard in the TAB area. See below.
  9. The relevant Match Committee will then inform the green keepers of the rink requirements. This is to assist with rink allocation for the entire day.
  10. Once the rescheduled date/time is approved, this is the new “play or forfeit ” date/time. Substitution and Replacement rules then apply if a player becomes unavailable.

Please ensure you have notified the relevant Match Committee, and have approval before commencing your match!

CONCURRENT MATCHES

There have been two incidences where players have rescheduled their Single Gender matches prior to a pre programmed Open Gender match.

Saturday July 8th  – Several players scheduled a Single Gender Major Singles Final and Major Pairs preliminary game at 9:30am in the morning knowing they were involved in an Open Gender Major Fours game programmed for the same day at 1:00pm. No verbal notice was given, however, there was written notice on the sheet.

Windang Bowling Club Match Committee chose to grant dispensation for these players and reschedule the Major Fours to the following week. This is the first time this has occurred and situations like this will be dealt with on a case by case basis. The ultimate goal is to encourage participation and work through issues involved with running a combination of Open Gender and Single Gender events by two different clubs and two different Match Committees, while also following the COP!

Saturday 16th July – A Major Pairs match was rescheduled in the morning, however, there was no written or verbal notice given or approval sought by the Match Committee. The green keepers were notified. Players who chose to play in the morning match (Single Gender Major Pairs) without approval were made aware that they were expected to play the afternoon match (Open Gender Major Fours). One player felt unwell after the Major Pairs match and was substituted in the Major Fours match. The Major Fours match was completed and the subsequent round programmed for Sunday 17th July was also completed on schedule.
