2021 Minor Pairs Finalists L to R - John Payer & Blake Perry, Peter Jones & Wolfe Thiele

AND FINALLY, 2021 COMES TO A CLOSE

It’s taken another 6 months, but our 2021 season has finally come to a close with our 2021 Presentation on Saturday 25th June.

SPONSORS APPRECIATION NIGHT.

On Friday we held an appreciation night for our sponsors with a Barefoot Bowls session, showcasing our new greens lighting. The weather was fantastic and what a great night it was! Thank you to our sponsors for attending, and for your continued support.

The night was attended by representatives from Tyrepower, Best In Beds, Teamcare Insurance Brokers, Windang Pharmacy and IEA Real Estate.

We all hope you enjoyed playing barefoot bowls at Club Windang. For that special work function, we can always tailor a barefoot bowls package to suit your needs.

To our volunteers who helped out on the night. Well done and thank you. We always appreciate what you do for our club.

A great night had by everyone!

2021 MINOR PAIRS CHAMPIONSHIP.

Our 2021 Minor Pairs was completed as well. Blake Perry and John Payer teamed up against Peter Jones and Wolfe Thiele. A great game to watch, going down to the wire with Peter and Wolfe just getting the better of Blake and John with a score of 23-21. Well done to all players for making the final and congratulations to our winners.

2021 PRESENTATION

Our 2021 Presentation was held on Sat 25th June with approx 90 people in attendance. The day started off with a relaxing game of bowls, followed by lunch and the presentation. Congratulations to everyone on their achievements for the previous season and best of luck in the new 2022-2023 season.

Well done Daniel Davies on his achievement of Player of The Year. Congratulations!

A MESSAGE FROM THE BOWLS COORDINATOR.

On behalf of our bowling members, I’d like to thank our Management and Board of Directors for their support and guidance. The last few years have been extremely difficult for everyone, but our club continues to thrive and prosper, and the momentum appears to be building.

For our bowlers……. thank you for your continued support and words of praise. Just like a skip in pennants, I’m only as good as the team in front of me. Our Match Committee, Selectors, Volunteers, Staff, Management and Board, all work well as a team, and I’m proud to be a part of that team. I’m proud to be a part of the JUGGERNAUT that is CLUB WINDANG!

Our new season commences next week with our Club Fours and Club Triples, split into Majors and Minors. Our events are classed as open gender, so both men and women are eligible to play (subject to event eligibility requirements). Our Junior Zoe Davies also trialling up at Cabramatta for a place in the State Squad. Good Luck Zoe!

Up next will be the Single Gender Pennant competitions in August. Good luck everyone! Club Windang have the Men’s Finals for the next three years, scheduled in October so lock those dates in your calendar.

For the benefit of both of our club’s, our Board and the Women’s Executive have agreed in principle to unite both club’s. This will not happen overnight and requires due process. We’ll be seeking assistance from Bowls NSW LTD all throughout this process. We’ll communicate all information though our bowls website.

We’re currently working on a few web pages for our Women’s Club members. These will be integrated into our bowls website and should be available soon. Some of the webpages will get a well needed makeover, as we require updates to our Club Conditions of Play, Club Incentives and other Payments, Code of Conduct etc.

We should know about our funding for our new scoreboards at the end of the year. All scoreboards will have panels for sponsorship opportunities, and they should look great on greens with the matching shade cloths.

Fingers crossed!

All the best to everyone for the upcoming season.

Enjoy your bowls and as the catch phrase goes………….

FIRE UP WINDANG !
